JJ Scoops, Clinton,  NJ – . When my children were little  we went to visit the Red Mill  in Clinton– a historic site with a waterwheel.  The staff and volunteers at the mill were very kind and amazingly comfortable letting four small children explore the mill.  My next interaction with Clinton happened many years later when my fife teacher, who worked at the Red Mill, invited us to volunteer at their haunted mill – a Halloween event run every year.  Chuck no longer works at the mill, but I still enjoy haunting the place every October.  My daughter and son-in-law now live in Clinton, which is what brought us here today.  Clinton has many nice shops to browse  (we bought a bottle of wine today) and eat ice cream.

JJ Scoops is a small ice cream shop with tons of choices.  I got the Red Mill Sindae – Clinton will always be synonymous  with the Haunted Mill to me.  The sundae was red velvet ice cream, cookie crumbles, an oreo cooked, hot fudge, whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry.  I should have asked what the significance of each ingredient was, but I failed to.  I assume the red velvet ice cream was for the red, and the Oreo cooked probably represented the water wheel.  I will get a little more creative here, and assume the hot fudge represented the water, and the whipped cream, cherry and sprinkles were there because they always top off sundaes..   I enjoyed my ice cream with my husband, my daughter and son-in-law.
