Jimmy’s Ice Cream

Jimmy’s Ice Cream, Milford, New Jersey

Jimmy’s Ice Cream from the road

Normally if one drove into Jimmy’s Ice Cream parking lot, they could park their, peruse the charming menu and order hot food or ice cream at the walk-up window.

Great menu with fun sundae options.

But we are not doing normally today, we are a Covid-19 outbreak with ‘social distancing’, face masks and drive through ordering.

Jimmy’s Ice Cream nicely organized a system for drive-up ordering through a walk-up window – two alternating lines of cars, when yours got to the front, someone in the car would walk up to the window, order, get back in the car and wait for their order to be ready.

Lots a cars waiting in two lines to get ice cream. It was worth the wait!

There were plenty of employees working well together – they were friendly and efficient (I think the tip jar was doing quite well too).

When our car got to the front, I donned my neck gator mask, walked up and ordered sundaes for myself and Don

Ordering ice cream Covid-19 style

Don got a Coffee Craze (Java Chunk ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry) and I got a Fluffernutter Sundae with Oreo Peanut Butter and Java Chunk ice cream (marshmallow and peanut butter topping, chopped nuts, whipped cream and a cherry). Serving sizes were generous and the ice cream was tasty.

Yummy!

Although they had picnic tables to eat at and it was a absolutely beautiful day, a Covid-19 crisis calls for ‘social distancing’ so we ate in the car. Good thing it was Don’s car because I dropped whipped cream on the seat.

Why we were here: Once again we came to the Delaware River for a bike ride on a great trail. Today we crossed the river from the totally charming town of Milford, New Jersey and rode to Riegelsville Pennsylvania. I am very fascinated with canal history and I never tire of this canal –

remnants of the locks can be found frequently, the trail is smooth and flat and scenic. What a wonderful day!!

Delaware River was really high today!
